Abstract: The Republic of Serbia has declared accession of the European Union to be the main strategic goal and recognized the EU Sustainable Development Strategy as a guiding framework for the future development. In the first commitment period of Kyoto Protocol (2008-2012) the Republic of Serbia, as non-Annex developing country, has no obligation to reduce the emission of "greenhouse gases". The Republic of Serbia has obligations that are related to preparation of national reports in the field of climate research and the adoption and implementation of measures for mitigation of climate change. In 2010 the Government adopted the First Communication of the Republic of Serbia in accordance with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the National Strategy for Integration of Serbia into Clean Development Mechanism in accordance with the Kyoto Protocol in sectors of agriculture, forestry and waste management. The main objective of this chapter is to compare the indicators of the achievement of sustainable development (2008-2011) in the Republic of Serbia.
