Gamma-Kumaraswamy Distribution in Reliability Analysis: Properties and Applications

Indranil Ghosh and Gholamhossein Hamedani

A chapter in Advances in Statistical Methodologies and Their Application to Real Problems from IntechOpen

Abstract: In this chapter, a new generalization of the Kumaraswamy distribution, namely the gamma-Kumaraswamy distribution is defined and studied. Several distributional properties of the distribution are discussed in this chapter, which includes limiting behavior, mode, quantiles, moments, skewness, kurtosis, Shannon's entropy, and order statistics. Under the classical method of estimation, the method of maximum likelihood estimation is proposed for the inference of this distribution. We provide the results of an analysis based on two real data sets when applied to the gamma-Kumaraswamy distribution to exhibit the utility of this model.
