Methodological Aspects of Industrial and Transport Noise Monitoring

Abstract: The chapter outlines the methodological aspects of monitoring industrial and transport noise, including the main physical characteristics, features of sources, measuring instruments, features of hygienic regulation of industrial and transport noise, means and methods of protection against it. It is shown that industrial facilities and most modes of transport are sources of high-intensity noise, the spectrum of which is dominated by frequencies of the low-frequency infrasonic range. The close physical nature of these ranges contributes to the propagation of such noise with low attenuation, and they have good penetrating power, so most noise protection devices are ineffective. This requires careful medical supervision of persons working in such conditions, improvement of means and methods of protection against industrial and transport noise.
