Abstract:
This chapter provides an overview of the significance of Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) in ensuring product and service quality, meeting customer requirements, and achieving organizational objectives. QC involves monitoring and maintaining quality, while QA ensures compliance with specified requirements. The chapter explores various techniques for QC and QA, such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing/Management, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Quality Audits, and Inspections, enabling consistent quality, waste reduction, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement. Additionally, it discusses the applications of computer-aided Quality Control (CAQC) and Quality Assurance (CAQA) technologies in healthcare, manufacturing, service, construction, and food industries, highlighting benefits like real-time monitoring and improved decision-making. Challenges in implementing CAQC and CAQA, including costs and change management, are addressed. Popular techniques and tools in CAQC and CAQA are mentioned, with recommendations for software and tool selection and integration. Future trends in computer-aided Quality Control and Quality Assurance are also explored.
