Abstract: The field of human personality (one of the central concepts in the behavioral sciences) offers various areas of research. Most are topical, as we are faced with a complex concept that has multiple implications in biological, psychological, social, economic, cultural and political plans. The study of personality is a key component of the basic professional training of the future psychologists, as well as of the specialists and practitioners in the field of education. In the content of the present course, from the historical perspective, the most important trends in the interpretation of human personality are reviewed. As a basis for the conduct of individuals, the personality began to be approached from a monistic perspective. Later, interpretative-explanatory concerns evolved into a pluralistic perspective. Also, this volume reviews the dichotomy between the nomothetic (psychometric) and the idiographic (clinical) approaches. The contributions of the main researchers of personality psychology, representatives of humanistic psychology, are presented: G. W. Allport, A. H. Maslow, C. Rogers, H. A. Murray. (The author)
