Abstract: Today more than ever, knowledge and human resources play a very important role in International Businesses (IBs). Firms that manage to absorb new knowledge from their partners in alliances and apply it in the local environment will most likely be more successful than the ones lacking this ability. Knowledge transfer success and the firms’ absorptive capacity depend on a number of factors. There is a general agreement among researchers on the most important ones; but their impact varies in different national contexts. This paper will analyse the latest literature in the field of Knowledge Acquisition and Absorptive Capacity of International Businesses. Based on the literature review findings, a number of propositions will be proposed for further research on the absorptive capacity of Serbian firms in alliances with Greek enterprises operating in Serbia.
