Abstract:
This paper suggests that building an understanding of enterprise has involved making a number of assumptions, some of which now appear to be questionable. To demonstrate this the paper considers the evolution of our supposed knowledge about enterprise (and associated concepts) and examines ex-amples of assumptions which, with hindsight, now seem to be wrong. This, it concludes, makes a prima facie case for rethinking enterprise.
