Prologue: The Big Casino
Karl Widerquist
A chapter in Independence, Propertylessness, and Basic Income, 2013, pp 1-8 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Suppose you’re driving down a desolate highway through the semi-arid plateau of eastern Oregon on the way home to your birthplace in Winnemucca, Nevada, at the end of your first year studying political philosophy at the University of Northern British Columbia. You daydream about the time when you will finish your studies, homestead some land near your hometown, raise sheep, eat mutton, and write papers that no one will ever read.
