Chapter Chapter 13 in Debating Universal Basic Income, 2022, pp 99-101 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract To be independent, people must have independent means, like that provided by subsistance living or UBI. Only with the basics in the bag can people assert their independent views without fear of retribution. UBI will make people independent of bad employers, religions and religious leaders, politicians, and spouses by providing them with viable options. Governments can reprivatize services knowing that all will be able to afford to procure them in the market, thus freeing people from dependence on the government.
