Abstract: Abstract The War of Liberation (WoL) in 1971 was a monumental landmark in the lives and history of people who live in the present geographical boundary known as Bangladesh. To some extent, perhaps, the impact of WoL also touches similar numbers of Bengalis living on other side of the border in Paschimbanga (formerly West Bengal), a state of India. The phrase ‘monumental landmark’ is used not to glorify this historical juncture unconditionally. Rather, the WoL can be viewed as a point of reference to connect with the past, assess the present, and aspire for a better equitable future based on justice for the women and men of Bangladesh.
