Reclaiming My Education: A Passage to Consciousness
Nawar Al-Hassan Golley
Chapter 3 in A Journey into Women’s Studies, 2014, pp 41-59 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract I had known for some years that I suffered from some elusive, abstruse ailment, but the name escaped me. I read Sheila Rowbotham’s great book, Woman’s Consciousness, Man’s World, which led me down a path consisting of many other equally alluring books that dealt with similar issues, and it was then that I knew the name of my symptoms. Since then I have been proud to talk about this issue — one that I now recognize to be healthy, and not an illness of any kind — feminism.
