The Early Years: Lessons for Life

Gordon Fletcher

Chapter 2 in Dennis Robertson, 2008, pp 12-24 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The circumstances of Robertson’s early years, from his birth to the conclusion of his schooldays, shaped his approach to life and, ultimately, to economics. It was during these years that he became progressively aware of his true nature and of his life’s predicament. The ‘lessons for life’ he came rather painfully to learn meant a weighing of his strengths and weaknesses and the perception, however dimly, of a personal strategy by means of which he might survive and prosper.
