Chapter 9 in Adam Smith, 2008, pp 148-167 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract As usual, Smith opens with an historical essay on the fundamental features of the progression towards opulence. It contains items that are never far from his thinking. I look at what he identified as the core elements of the causes of economic growth and real wealth, in the context of the distortions of centuries of mercantile political economy.
