Abstract: Abstract In October 1974, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced that it had named Gunnar Myrdal and Friedrich von Hayek as co-winners of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics. The citation accompanying this announcement merits quotation at length.
