Chapter Chapter 1 in Sidney and Beatrice Webb, 2022, pp 1-2 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This short introduction provides an overview of the 14 chapters. It says that the Webbs were multidisciplinary historian-economists and agitators with a missionary zeal to do good. It situates their approach to the new science of economics in a broader debate about cooperation, capitalism, evolution, class conflict and British social democracy.
