Chapter Chapter 1 in Richard F. Kahn, 2026, pp 1-12 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This chapter introduces Richard Kahn, outlining the main stages of his intellectual life, the contents and the motivations behind this research. As the chapter argues, Kahn’s intellectual consistency is the key to understanding the meaning of his intellectual biography. Kahn’s legacy endures through his complex personality, intellectual relationships and mentoring of younger economists, thereby perpetuating the Keynesian tradition at Cambridge and beyond. His influence was relational rather than institutional, based on loyalty and a lifelong dedication to Cambridge and Cambridge economics.
