Abstract: Abstract There have been a number of peculiar features that can characterise the development of the contemporary inflation process. In the past few years a slump in production and a rise in unemployment rates in a number of the capitalist countries have been accompanied by a further rise in prices that has made still more acute the economic and social problems facing those countries. These events have been the logical result of the deepening of contradictions imbedded in such economic growth. The ruling class has done its utmost to transfer the burden of declining production and accelerating inflation onto the working people.
