Chapter 24 in The Organization and Retrieval of Economic Knowledge, 1977, pp 463-477 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract It is necessary to distinguish between information and knowledge since the latter is less easily communicated than the former. It is also necessary to attend to the input cost of communication, together with the willingness of potential users to meet that cost, particularly given the limited market provided by those with a relevant interest in the history of economic thought.
