Abstract:
Abstract The State University of New York is a multicampus university which, in response to the fiscal and operational problems which are facing higher education, is developing a library network. Proposals to increase the cost efficiency and cost effectiveness of the libraries are made, and some of the unknown elements, including library output measurement, collection size formulae, and the balance of emphasis between the collection or archival and user service functions are discussed.
