Abstract:
Abstract The explicit introduction of time and movement into economic theory appears to be a relatively new development, typical of our generation. This is indeed surprising. Our thinking must have been obscured by the prestige of the physical sciences for us to attribute to our timeless constructions virtues other than those of an excellent ‘early morning exercise’ (Myrdal) or of a ‘reservoir of hypotheses’ (Perroux) or, at best, of an approximation useful in finding a practical solution to some immediate problem.
