Abstract:
Abstract By ‘measures promoting price stability’ I understand for the purpose of this paper all measures likely to prevent or slow down an increase in the price level. It remains an open question whether we need to prepare ourselves against the opposite danger of falling prices as well as how, and how far, international organizations would be able to control deflation. Undoubtedly, their rôle in preventing or checking deflation would be significant, and much easier to discover than their role in the fight against inflation.
