Abstract:
Abstract International policy co-ordination has become a very popular topic recently. Its appeal derives largely from the perception that the world economy is marked by a higher degree of interdependence through trade and capital flows than ever before. Such interdependence entails a significant potential for conflicts of interest among governments as their spheres of influence increasingly overlap. Recent experiences with persistent exchange rate misalignments and trade imbalances has demonstrated the significance of this interdependence clearly enough.
