Summing-up II

Chapter 19 in International Trade Policy and the Pacific Rim, 1999, pp 400-405 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract A good three-day conference generates a huge volume of information, not only from the papers and formal discussions, but also from participants’ comments and informal interaction. I do not want to summarize it all — indeed, I could not — but rather try to use this brief summary to make links between sessions and draw some conclusions. In doing so I shall try to identify both common themes and unresolved disputes. I shall not be designing a future research programme, but I hope that some of my points will be taken on to someone’s agenda. My comments are divided into five parts, in more-or-less random order.
