Abstract: Abstract The purpose of this paper is to review the structure of the fiscal systems of certain African economies, to consider how far a ‘successful’ fiscal policy is possible under African conditions, and to examine how far the existing fiscal structures might have to adapt themselves in order to make fiscal policy more effective.
