Abstract:
Abstract A prevalent feature of social and economic planning in most developing countries, until quite recently, has been the particular emphasis on growth maximisation and optimum resource allocation. The rationale behind this approach to development planning has been the view that the maximisation of the rate of growth of output not only entails more material well-being for the nation as a whole but also results in a better distribution of income in the long run.
