Some Problems of Prices and Incomes Policy in France
Edmond Malinvaud
Chapter 1 in Econometric Contributions to Public Policy, 1978, pp 13-30 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract When econometrics first emerged in the inter-war period, one of its earliest concerns was to help improve economic policy. Now, almost fifty years later, econometricians can take pride in the success of their subject, which no economist worthy of the name can overlook today. But they have to admit that the impact of their work upon the conduct of economic policy is still somewhat limited. This is one of the reasons why the programme of this conference is of such particular interest.
