Abstract:
Abstract The aim of this paper is to summarise and review the principal results of our investigations of the aggregate consumption function in Italy. It is based on work undertaken at the Bank of Italy. These studies began in 1974, and deal systematically with issues that have been of interest to theorists in recent years, and in particular the permanent income and life cycle hypotheses.
