Chapter 18 in The Economics of Choice between Energy Sources, 1987, pp 360-372 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Not long ago, India like other similar economies had a highly underdeveloped energy sector. A few private electricity companies which functioned at that time supplied energy mainly for street lighting and domestic use. Despite quick growth of industrial activity during the Second World War, the demand for energy had not shown any significant change as much of the industrial output during this period was labour intensive.
