Structural Reform and the Distributional Effects of Price Changes in Argentina 1988–98
Fernando H. Navajas
Chapter 13 in Latin American Economic Crises, 2004, pp 222-246 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter considers the distribution effects of price changes in Argentina following a decade of structural reform. During the 1990s, Argentina introduced price stabilization policies, changed its tax and expenditure systems, privatized public services and industries, eliminated international trade barriers through sharp reductions in tariffs, and, finally, deregulated many goods and services markets.
