Abstract: Abstract It is now widely accepted that science and technology underlie much of the economic growtheconomic growth that has been a highlight of human social development for over 300 years. Science has grown along with social welfare, economy, and the application of human imagination. This chapter describes the scale and scope of the current global system at this writing.
