Growing by Mergers and Acquisitions
Steven I. Davis
Chapter 9 in Investment Banking, 2003, pp 107-116 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Only three years ago, this chapter would probably not have been written. The leaders in today’s investment banking model were former partnerships which had grown by and large organically, eschewing the cultural dilution and conflict which accompanied a major merger or acquisition. Buying into another ‘people’ business risked not only losing key professionals but also paying a substantial premium over book value for these same people.
