Abstract:
Abstract When starting up a business, three different approaches are possible: reproduction, imitation, and innovation (Bruyat 1993). From the reproduction perspective, individuals wish to continue doing what they did in their previous employment but work for themselves. Individuals who start up businesses based on imitation follow a well-established pattern but do not always have the required skills or resources. Finally, innovative start-ups rely on the introduction of new products, services, technologies or practices that break away from existing ones. Innovation usually entails a great deal of uncertainty due to the inherent novelty.
