Tools for Program and Project Executive Direction

Mats Larsson

Chapter Chapter 9 in Global Energy Transformation, 2009, pp 111-117 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In his management classic The Fifth Discipline, Peter Senge argues that visions, values and mental models will become the management tools of the future, replacing old tools, such as control and coordination. In the learning organizations, envisioned by Peter Senge, employees become empowered to make their own decisions, based on insight and an understanding of the situation. This line of thought represents a paradigm shift, compared to past thinking of management theorists and practitioners. Senge argues that employees at all levels should be seen as both willing and able to think for themselves and make their own decisions for the good of the company.
