Sowing The Seeds for Bullying: The First Interactions Between a Bully and Their Target
Aryanne Oade
Chapter Chapter 3 in Managing Workplace Bullying, 2009, pp 35-50 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter we’ll be considering your early encounters with bullying behavior. We’ll be examining these encounters from the perspective of those of you who have been bullied, are being bullied or fear that you might be bullied in the future. We will explore how a bully might interact with you in the opening stages of a campaign of bullying. We’ll highlight the red flags that bullies inevitably put up as they do this; red flags that, if you don’t know what to look out for, you might inadvertently misinterpret, ignore or play down when you really need to heed their warnings.
