Sri Lanka
Silvia Hidalgo
from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Sri Lanka is bleeding, suffering from a violent 26-year conflict. With a death toll of more than 150,000 and several hundreds of thousands more affected, the wounds of war are deep. The most recent escalation in fighting in 2009 opened a new chapter of increased – and predictable – suffering as civilian populations were once again caught in the crossfire, unable to flee and subjected to inhumane treatment and an impossible life-threatening situation.
