Abstract:
Abstract Corporate governance is challenged on several fronts as we come to the end of the first decade of the twenty-first century. “Are the lights on the boardroom” alludes to the work rate of board members, to their ability to be connected to extreme global change and to be educated enough and competent when faced with a world that is changing around them. After all, the evidence states unambiguously that most board members of global corporations are linked, are incestuous, and share each others’ boards, interests, clubs and limitations (Kakabadse and Kakabadse, 2008). How then can they cope with the onslaught — and what is that onslaught?
