Abstract:
Abstract The UN system is at the forefront of efforts towards gender equality, the elimination of discrimination against women and ‘mainstreaming’ them. There are the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), going on its 53rd Session; the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW Committee), going on its 45th session; the Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW) in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs; and there are several global organizations involved in these tasks: UNDP, INSTRAW, UNIFEM, ILO, to name a few.
