Abstract:
Abstract This Country Study summarizes and develops the major findings and policy conclusions of the general report, A Proposed Strategy for Growth, Employment and Poverty Reduction in Uzbekistan: an Input Report into the Welfare Improvement Strategy (McKinley 2007). This report was produced in 2007 by a team of international and national consultants supported by the Centre for Economic Research and the UNDP Country Office in Uzbekistan and the International Poverty Centre in Brasilia. The report was presented to the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan as an ‘input’ into the government’s formulation of a new Welfare Improvement Strategy.
