Abstract:
Abstract If “action learning” is “a form of learning by doing,” then “future search,” to borrow a phrase from the pioneer social psychologist Kurt Lewin, means “doing by learning.” This may be a distinction without a difference, since learning and doing seem to us inextricably linked. Future search derives from action research, a key legacy of Kurt Lewin’s. However, future search represents a significant departure from its action research roots. It has become a kind of hybrid large group amalgam supporting many traditions, including that of action learning.
