Abstract:
Abstract This chapter explores the complex and multifaceted linkages existing between the different actors of the national innovation system of Romania and business. Special focus is given to the development of the national innovation system from the Communist period until 2006. The government’s role in increasing the competitiveness of the local economy is also examined. MNEs as basic drivers of innovation are analyzed with regard to other actors in the innovation system.
