Abstract: Abstract The Prince was written by Machiavelli, arguably the first political scientist, in 1532. The author’s name has been lent to a style of leadership and management associated with cynicism, deceit and guile. To be described as Machiavellian is to be insulted — it means being duplicitous, egocentric and manipulative. The Machiavellian is exploitative, competitive, and selfish.
