Abstract:
Abstract It’ s December 2008 — the sixtieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights — and in the grand surroundings of the Cathedral of Palais de Chaillot in Paris an eclectic mix of organizations have come together to discuss the role of business in human rights. After opening remarks from Mary Robinson, the former President of Ireland and UN Commissioner for Human Rights, speakers from Human Rights First, Microsoft, the Committee to Protect Journalists, Google, the Berkman Center at Harvard, Yahoo! and the Center for Democracy and Technology all lined up to give their views on how to protect and advance the human rights of freedom of expression and privacy in the online environment.
