Abstract Attempts to describe and analyze such pronounced and complex changes like the ones which have occurred in the last 20 years, to account for the similarities and differences of the various ramifications of the phenomenon analyzed and, often, of the complex weave linking them, have been made by resorting to concepts and definitions that can gradually help us to determine the extent of our understanding and the insight achieved.
