Finding Alternatives to Risk
Mark Jablonowski
Chapter 2 in Risk Dilemmas, 2007, pp 15-35 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Life offers us a path to freedom from risks: Avoid them. Realistic difficulties enter, and what seems to be a rather simple adage, turns out to be very complicated in application. It seems that our challenge in practical life is not so much avoiding risk, as avoiding the dilemmas that such avoidance entails. These practical difficulties do not represent a defect in simple risk avoidance criteria. They are a result of the way our world is.
