Committee- and Market-Based Competition in the Mobile Infrastructure Market

Jeffrey L. Funk

Chapter 4 in Global Competition Between and Within Standards, 2002, pp 93-144 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This chapter describes how committee-based competition and the interaction between these committee- and market-based competitions has played a stronger role in the overall competition between mobile infrastructure providers than just market-based competition by itself. Firms participate in standard-setting committees while they simultaneously develop technology in cooperation with service-providers.
