Possibilities of Foreseeing
Knut Samset
Chapter 6 in Early Project Appraisal, 2010, pp 51-65 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The human desire to foresee future events is deeply rooted and is reflected in many spheres, not least religion, philosophy, literature, psychology, mathematics, economics and meteorology. The scope of pursuits is enormous, from the speculations in what is known as astrology to precise mathematical modelling in quantum physics and astronomy. The time span also is enormous, from the Delphic oracle of ancient Greece to the present-day, interactive group forecasting method called the Delphi method.
