Chapter 7 in Financial Globalization, 2010, pp 280-282 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract In the contemporary global economic and financial environment, financial globalization is as important a policy area as it is intriguing. The global macroeconomic and financial crisis of 2007–09 put an end to three decades of commendable progress in financial globalization. It also put this phenomenon under the spotlight again and gave it additional relevance. It is sure to influence the global economy as well as the systemically important individual economies during the rest of the twenty-first century in a substantive manner. Clear thinking, appropriate comprehension and a nuanced understanding of the principal issues in this crucial policy area are indispensable.
