Crossing Borders: A Tribute to Yujiro Hayami
Gustav Ranis
Chapter 2 in Community, Market and State in Development, 2010, pp 11-13 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Yujiro Hayami has always been ahead of the curve; he has always had what might be called a nose for the jugular. He has been an intellectual pioneer but never an intellectual ideologue. He has consistently crossed borders, across disciplines and within disciplines — even when it wasn’t fashionable. Let me count the ways in which he has reached across the various intellectual boundaries which many of us, ensconced in our various fiefdoms, have been all too prone to erect.
