Chapter Chapter 1 in Developing Innovative organizations, 2011, pp 3-25 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Mobile telephony is actually quite an old idea. The concept of being able to communicate without wires goes back to the first radio phones developed before the Second World War. The first automated mobile phone service was developed by Ericsson in the 1950s, and the first modern cell phone was sold by Motorola in the 1970s. Both firms then developed many new products, in particular sophisticated handsets, based on their technology and engineering skills.
