Chapter Chapter 4 in Developing Innovative organizations, 2011, pp 70-109 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Plastics Ltd. is a European chemical company created a century ago. It employs thousands of people in factories and plants across the world and has built its success on revolutionary research-based product and process developments. It still makes a sizeable share of its profit from products it invented decades ago and most of its top managers began their careers with the firm. Hence it has developed over the years an engineer-driven “invented here” culture, based on efficiency, safety, corporate loyalty and commitments to plans and targets.
